ABOUT TANUVAS
TAMIL NADU VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY (Popularly abbreviated as TANUVAS) is the first Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in South Asia established in 1989. TANUVAS has been conferred with the prestigious “Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award – 2011” recognizing its outstanding performance in education, research and extension in the country in the field of Agricultural Sciences including Veterinary Science.
The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has been ranked first among the 15 State veterinary universities in India by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in its recent (2020) rank list.
TANUVAS has taken the 12th place on the list of agriculture, veterinary, horticulture and fisheries universities across the country
ABOUT CFDT
College of Food and Dairy Technology (CFDT) is a constituent organisation under the banner of TANUVAS. This College had its modest beginning way back in the year 1991 as an 'Institute of Dairying'. Our University has introduced undergraduate B.Tech degree programmes in Food Technology & Dairy Technology; M.Tech degree programmes in Food Technology, Dairy Technology & Dairy Chemistry and Ph.D degree programmes in Food Technology with the motto of knowledge bank generation to strengthen the food processing sectors. These courses are accredited to ICAR with due recognition of AICTE for all the degrees offered in our campus. Our college encompasses various food processing units, laboratories and infrastructure facilities funded by State and Central Governments to the tune of Rs. 25.00 crores. This Institute is actively engaged in implementation of i-STED project on “Diffusion of Novel Food Technologies for generation of Healthy India” in our State with a financial outlay of Rs. 2.76 crores funded by Department of Science and Technology for dissemination of successful model across the Nation. This College has bagged the Best Institute - Industry linked Diamond category award from AICTE during the year 2016 – 2017.

The Madras Veterinary College is located in Vepery, Chennai, Tamil Nadu is located just 0.75 km from Egmore Railway station. 1.5 km from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, 17 km from Chennai Airport and 10 km from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), Koyembedu.
